Cypress Creek Renewables – Community Solar

OVERVIEW

Langan has provided multidisciplinary services on more than 60 CCR solar projects throughout the Northeast and East Coast, successfully preparing high-quality deliverables on complex sites with fast-paced schedules due to the nature of solar funding programs. Developed under the solar incentive programs of each state, these projects benefit the environment, community, and nearby residences.

For each project, our team considers the individual complexities of the site and adapts the scope to meet CCR’s needs and desired project schedule. Langan prepares full land development design drawings and stormwater management reports for site plan applications, including site layout, grading and drainage, soil erosion and sediment control, and landscaping plans; coordinates with local agencies to obtain permits; and supports the projects through the entitlement process. This support includes the preparation of photo-realistic renderings, viewshed assessments, visual impact assessment reports, natural resources permitting, traffic engineering, geotechnical investigation, and glare analyses as needed for the projects.

Solar Bay

OVERVIEW
Langan was a consultant to the City of Wildwood for a new, 25-acre solar farm on a former landfill site on the bay at Post Creek Basin. The solar farm will produce 3-megawatts of electricity for the city and will be developed following the capping and final closure of the open landfill site. The master plan includes 25-acres of new parkland, passive open space, recreational boating facilities along with recreational and fitness trails.

NJ Meadowlands Commission 1-A Landfill Solar Array

OVERVIEW
The solar array will be constructed on the top of the landfill and down the southern slope of the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission (NJMC) 1-A Landfill, with an intertie connection to the regional electrical distribution located off the site. The solar array is expected to provide over 3 MWdc of electric solar power annually. Langan has been retained by SunDurance to assist in a variety of design, permitting, and construction needs.

Solar Array at the ILR Landfill

OVERVIEW
This 7.7-MW solar power facility spans approximately 65 acres of sanitary landfill closed and capped in 1985. Langan provided complete surveying, site/civil, geotechnical, and construction observation services for the project, which was one of the first projects where Langan used unmanned aircraft systems to create the existing topography. We also provided geotechnical recommendations with respect to subgrade preparation and measures to mitigate against long term settlements.

Utility Solar Program

OVERVIEW
A major utility company is developing former landfills and brownfield sites into solar farms designed to power over 25,000 residences. Langan performed site assessments and determined the suitability of these otherwise unusable sites, which will provide 158 megawatts of solar capacity. We also provided oversight for solar construction and permit compliance.

Former Gas Plant Remediation & Ecological Restoration

OVERVIEW
Langan developed and gained regulator agreement on a final remedy for a former major oil corporation gas plant site located in Southern California. The agreed upon path to closure utilized a background analysis and risk assessment to identify attainable remedial cleanup standards for constituents of potential concern. By taking a face-to-face approach with regulators (DTSC, Region 9 EPA, Central Coast RWQCB, County of Santa Barbara) and presenting a strong argument for a risk-based strategy to closure, Langan was able to achieve an agreed upon 1 to 2 year path to closure that was 27 years (case opened in 1988) in the making with two previous consultants.

Gas Compressor Stations

OVERVIEW
Langan provides integrated services to multiple clients for compressor station sites. As a part of assessing site feasibility, the Langan team provides site layout and grading analyses along with stream and wetland delineations. After site selection, final construction documents are prepared by Langan including site layout, grading and drainage design, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater management design. Additionally, our geotechnical team evaluates subsurface conditions and our transportation team permits driveways and access roads. Langan also obtains air quality permits and other environmental compliance permits.

Freshwater Impoundments for Natural Gas Production

OVERVIEW
Langan supports multiple clients in the design and permitting of freshwater impoundments storing water to be used for hydrofracing natural gas production wells. Langan's team completes field and desktops reviews to evaluate site conditions and to develop the most efficient permitting strategy possible. Designs are created with the goal to maximize storage capacity without triggering the need for dam permits. Langan also designs site layouts, earthwork, and stormwater control for the sites and secures needed erosion and sediment control permits.

Offshore Wind Farm

OVERVIEW
The owner is planning to construct an initial phase of offshore wind power consisting of six turbines having a combined capacity of about 20MW. The turbines are to be located about 2.8 miles offshore in about 40 feet of water. The sea bed sub-surface conditions consist of hundreds of feet of unconsolidated sandy and silty soils. Langan's role is to provide geotechnical consultation and QC supervision of the geotechnical subsurface investigation program. Langan provided recommendations for the subsurface investigation for the turbines and the cable; this included drilling and probe methods, in-situ testing, and a laboratory testing program. In addition, Langan is providing archeological consultation related to geophysical surveys of the sea bed and geomorphological review of sediment cores.
