Confidential Refinery Modernization Project

OVERVIEW
The multi-billion dollar modernization effort involves fast-tracked geotechnical and seismic engineering studies for the modernization of this large refinery located on the Pacific coast. The ground motions and tsunami microzonation studies performed by Langan and our subconsultant were consistent with the definitions of the levels of earthquake “shaking” in the Peruvian code. The team performed both probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA) and deterministic analysis to develop the spectral acceleration estimates and tsunami wave runups required as part of the microzonation study. Langan performed an extensive two phased geotechnical study consisting of more than 100 test borings to 30-meter deep and 100 25-meter deep cone penetrometer tests. An array of geophysical testing was also performed to complement the borings and evaluate the subsurface conditions.

Antero Clearwater Facility

OVERVIEW
Langan provided environmental permit services for Antero's Clearwater Facility (ACF), a new state-of-the-art centralized water treatment facility, which included assisting Antero in obtaining an individual National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit.  As part of the NPDES application package, the Langan team provided GIS mapping of stormwater outfall locations, prepared a comprehensive and site-specific Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP)/Groundwater Protection Plan (GPP) and conducted NPDES training for Antero personnel and facility operators.

Former Gas Plant Remediation & Ecological Restoration

OVERVIEW
Langan developed and gained regulator agreement on a final remedy for a former major oil corporation gas plant site located in Southern California. The agreed upon path to closure utilized a background analysis and risk assessment to identify attainable remedial cleanup standards for constituents of potential concern. By taking a face-to-face approach with regulators (DTSC, Region 9 EPA, Central Coast RWQCB, County of Santa Barbara) and presenting a strong argument for a risk-based strategy to closure, Langan was able to achieve an agreed upon 1 to 2 year path to closure that was 27 years (case opened in 1988) in the making with two previous consultants.

Majorsville to Hopedale Pipeline

OVERVIEW
The project consisted of installing 45 miles of ten-inch diameter pipe connecting MarkWest's Majorsville, West Virginia processing plant to a fractionator line in Hopedale, Ohio. The majority of the pipeline was installed using open-trench methods; HDD method was used to install the pipeline at four crossing locations. Langan developed, coordinated and implemented geotechnical investigations, performed trenchless feasibility analyses and designs, and prepared bid packages for various crossings.

Gas Compressor Stations

OVERVIEW
Langan provides integrated services to multiple clients for compressor station sites. As a part of assessing site feasibility, the Langan team provides site layout and grading analyses along with stream and wetland delineations. After site selection, final construction documents are prepared by Langan including site layout, grading and drainage design, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater management design. Additionally, our geotechnical team evaluates subsurface conditions and our transportation team permits driveways and access roads. Langan also obtains air quality permits and other environmental compliance permits.

Freshwater Impoundments for Natural Gas Production

OVERVIEW
Langan supports multiple clients in the design and permitting of freshwater impoundments storing water to be used for hydrofracing natural gas production wells. Langan's team completes field and desktops reviews to evaluate site conditions and to develop the most efficient permitting strategy possible. Designs are created with the goal to maximize storage capacity without triggering the need for dam permits. Langan also designs site layouts, earthwork, and stormwater control for the sites and secures needed erosion and sediment control permits.
