The Pavilion – Penn Medicine

OVERVIEW
As part of the project team, known as PennFIRST, Langan is providing a multitude of services including site/civil, geotechnical, and traffic engineering; environmental consulting; permitting; and survey. In an effort to expand their rapidly growing network, Penn Medicine has assembled one of the first integrated project delivery (IPD) teams on the East Coast for the design and development of a new patient pavilion, located in Philadelphia’s University City area. The new clinical facility will include approximately 500 new patient beds, 50 operating and procedure rooms, a relocated and expanded Emergency Department, 700 space substructure parking lot, and expanded healthcare delivery programs within the network.

St. Luke’s Upper Bucks Hospital

OVERVIEW
Langan prepared a preliminary feasibility study to evaluate the possibility of developing a healthcare complex on one of three separate sites. We identified significant development constraints, prepared base maps and concept plans and provided a comparison table that describes the pros and cons for each development site. Once the site was selected at Route 663 and Portzer Road, Langan performed a preliminary due diligence investigation. Langan provided preliminary/schematic design, preliminary land development, preliminary traffic design and permitting, final land development submissions and permitting, geotechnical engineering, and site architectural and landscape design.

1064-1068 Mission Street Affordable Housing

OVERVIEW
Located at the intersection of 7th street, this project is considered San Francisco’s largest-ever supportive housing development for formerly homeless people. Langan first performed site due diligence services on behalf of the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development. We continued providing services under the developer, Mercy Housing who has partnered with Episcopal Community Services to develop the site. Plans are to construct two buildings containing 256 studios for formerly homeless adults and 55+ seniors. Langan performed a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment for the 1.16-acre site, and prepared a design-level geotechnical investigation for the support of the two proposed structures and site grading.

Nashville Airport Concourse D and Terminal Wings

OVERVIEW
Langan is assisting the Hensel Phelps design-build team with geotechnical design and construction aspects of the Nashville Airport Concourse D and Terminal Wings expansion project. The project includes construction of a new 43,000-SF Concourse D and South Terminal, the 36,500-SF North Terminal, and a new central utility plant. Because the site is located in a karst region, Langan completed a supplemental geotechnical investigation to further explore the depth and quality of the rock, the pinnacling nature of the rock surface, and to assess possible voids in the rock formation. Langan provided geotechnical recommendations and specifications for design of new shallow and deep foundations at the site including footings, drilled piers, micropiles, and tie-down anchors. Langan also provided recommendations for geotechnical-related aspects of the project such as earthwork, temporary shoring, and karst mitigation. Our engineering team is currently coordinating with the structural engineers and contractors to optimize the foundation systems and is providing on-site inspection of drilled pier load testing and installation.
