HUMC – Helena Theurer Pavilion

OVERVIEW
The Helena Theurer Pavilion is a nine-story, 530,000 SF surgical and intensive care “smart hospital.” The facility incorporates innovative technology into a thoughtfully designed space to provide an enhanced, collaborative atmosphere for patients, physicians, and medical staff. Langan assisted with site improvements associated with the development, including an internal circulation driveway, walkways, retaining walls, utilities, and stormwater management. We also completed a full site survey, 3D scan of the interior and exterior of existing buildings, and an existing conditions BIM model. The design team used the BIM model for building placement, site and utility connections, and design.

English Station Master Plan

OVERVIEW
Located on Mill River’s Ball Island, the former English Station power plant is contemplated for redevelopment into a mixed-used complex with residential, commercial space with structured parking, and public amenity space along the waterfront. Langan has been working with the current project team providing consultation on environmental remediation approaches, a feasibility analysis, and civil/geotechnical review and design considerations for potential new redevelopment. We are also working closely with the utility company responsible for environmental cleanup of the site, and the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, regarding future redevelopment options.

Santa Monica Self Storage

OVERVIEW
Langan is providing geotechnical services for the three-story Santa Monica Self-Storage facility, which will be built over two subterranean levels. Our services include a preliminary geotechnical investigation and design-level geotechnical report and temporary shoring and excavation to support the building's mat foundation. We will also conduct geotechnical construction observation and testing to confirm the excavation and foundation are constructed in accordance with our design specifications and recommendations.

Located at 181 Mercer Street, the 23-story, 735,000 SF John A. Paulson Center is a mixed-use facility with three towers providing state-of-the-art performing arts and athletic spaces, classrooms, dining areas, student and faculty housing, and a landscaped terrace. Designed under NYU’s Climate Action Plan, the building emphasizes sustainability with design strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, water consumption, and generated waste. We conducted a site survey, remedial investigation, and subsurface exploration; provided support of excavation and underpinning design; guided the client through the execution and management of the ULURP process; and monitored the adjacent buildings and subways during construction.
