Brava

OVERVIEW
Located in Houston’s Central Business District, Brava is set to become the city’s tallest residential tower. Langan’s geotechnical team performed subsurface investigations and provided foundation recommendations to support the 46-story tower without below-grade levels on a pile supported mat. Langan also provided quality assurance observation and verification during foundation construction.

Carnegie Mellon University – Ansys Hall

OVERVIEW
Ansys Hall spawned from a partnership between Carnegie Mellon University and Ansys, Inc., a Pittsburgh-area software simulation company. The development serves as a center of innovative design for the school of engineering at the University and includes a 36,000-SF building along with a courtyard. Our survey team provided a topographic survey of the project area, a utilities survey, and coordinated utility markout. Our geotechnical engineers performed a subsurface investigation to determine conditions and to provide foundation recommendations. Our site/civil engineers provided full site design services from pre-design through to construction administration.

5M Development

OVERVIEW
Constructed in multiple phases over a decade, 5M is a mixed-use, residential, office, and arts community development spanning 4 acres at Fifth and Mission streets between SOMA and Mid-Market neighborhoods. Langan is providing engineering services from design through construction. We conducted a geotechnical investigation to evaluate soil and groundwater conditions and site seismicity and geologic hazards. Our environmental team completed a Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA).

Norris Homes Development

OVERVIEW
Prior to construction beginning on this transit-oriented mixed-use development, Langan was hard at work investigating environmental and geotechnical conditions critical to the design. Despite the project’s location adjacent to a SEPTA regional rail line and Temple’s campus, the Philadelphia Housing Authority’s buildings at the site had seemed isolated from services. Working closely with the design team, Langan’s geotechnical and environmental team developed a plan for sampling and disposing of fill and managing environmental conditions.

145 Carroll Gardens

OVERVIEW
145 Carroll Gardens is a new condo and townhouse development at 145 President Street. The 7-story building consists of 17 units, a townhouse, fitness center, storage, parking spaces, and private and common terraces. Langan provided site/civil and parking engineering services for the new residential complex. We coordinated with New York City Department of Parks & Recreation for planting new trees at the site, and ultimately preserving a 24-inch tree indicative of the Carroll Gardens neighborhood.

4th Bridge Over the Panama Canal

OVERVIEW
The 4th bridge over the Panama Canal includes a cable stayed bridge to cross the navigational channel with an unsupported main span of 510m and a total length of approximately 1,000m between expansion joints. Langan is providing geotechnical, geologic, and seismic consulting services for the project, which once completed, will hold the world record for unsupported span length for a bridge 51 meters wide. The foundation of the bridge, which crosses several geologic formations, is designed to withstand the highest axial and seismic loads for this type of structure in Panama City.
