Amant Art Campus

OVERVIEW
Located in the East Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, Amant Art Campus is spread across three blocks in a rapidly changing industrial area. The 21,000 SF campus includes galleries, offices, performance space, warehouses, repair shops, a café, storage facility, and below-grade cellar level. Amant is a non-profit cultural incubator founded in 2019; the institution fosters experimentation and dialogue through exhibitions, public programs, and artist residencies. Langan performed a subsurface investigation, evaluated feasible foundation support alternatives, and prepared a geotechnical report addressing the foundation system, seismicity, and other geotechnical aspects.

CHOP New Patient Tower

OVERVIEW
The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is developing a 26-story patient tower. With 300 inpatient beds and space for 200 more, the tower will create more space for patients traveling from around the world to be treated by CHOP’s nationally renowned caretakers. This expansion will position CHOP as one of the largest children’s hospital in the nation. Langan reviewed the site, utilities, and roadway plans to identify potential impacts; is assisting with permitting and construction administration efforts; and is coordinating with the architectural team to incorporate stormwater management, site grading, drainage, and utilities into a solution that fits with the project vision. Langan previously provided multidisciplinary services for the hospital’s physician and administrative office building, utility master plan, and pedestrian bridge extension.

MAGNET Headquarters

OVERVIEW
The Manufacturing Advocacy and Growth Network (MAGNET) is a non-profit providing smaller manufacturers throughout Ohio with consulting support and workforce development. The organization recently redeveloped an old school building into its 53,000 SF headquarters, which blends academic and office elements and includes workshop spaces, conference rooms, social spaces, classrooms, and a STEM playground. Langan designed the public playground and adjacent park space, known as Heroes of Manufacturing Park, with consultation from the Great Lakes Science Center and Cleveland Metroparks. We also coordinated closely with many local community stakeholders and provided complete site/civil and surveying services for the overall redevelopment. Langan helped the project remain on schedule for its opening, despite an accelerated timeline.

Barclay Affordable Housing

OVERVIEW
Developed with St. Joseph's University Medical Center, this 86,520 SF affordable housing building is the first residential facility part of a hospital partnership subsidy program run by New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency. The four-story, 56-unit (including 10 units for people with special needs) building offers residents medical care, space for social, health, wellness, and counseling services, and 15,000 SF of outdoor space. Langan performed topographic, boundary, and utility surveys; conducted a traffic impact study; prepared landscape and lighting designs; developed recommendations for the foundation, subgrade improvement, and seismicity; and completed utility, grading, drainage design, stormwater management, and the soil erosion and sediment control certification. We also provided environmental investigations and managed remediation and soil disposal issues throughout construction.

200 Park Avenue

OVERVIEW
Located in the heart of downtown San Jose, 200 Park Avenue is a tech-oriented, 19-story office building located above four levels of underground parking. Langan conducted a geotechnical investigation, which included drilling borings and advancing cone penetration tests, performing shear wave velocity measurements to estimate ground motion during an earthquake, and developing site-specific response spectra for the tower design. We also performed a three-dimensional soil structure interaction evaluation to capture embedment and kinematic effects on the ground motions.

Olive + Wooster (87 Union Street)

OVERVIEW
Olive + Wooster is a six-story mixed-use building with 299 residential units, street-level retail, outdoor dining, two rooftop courtyards, and podium parking located on a 2.6-acre site. The building connects two major downtown neighborhoods in New Haven and offers an enticing and safe neighborhood geared toward the urban pedestrian. The streetscape design draws on the rigid structure of the building, incorporating linear banding to fold the vertical building lines horizontally onto the pavement. Trees removed during construction were upcycled into tabletops featured in the interior amenity space to promote sustainable design. Langan provided multidisciplinary services for this project, including landscape architecture, site/civil, traffic, and survey.
