Zuckerberg San Francisco Hospital & Trauma Center

OVERVIEW
The Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center is the only Level One trauma center serving 1.5 million people in the region. It is also the only hospital in San Francisco built with a base-isolated foundation, the latest technology for protecting buildings during seismic activity. The 10-story public hospital (8 stories above and 2 stories below ground) was constructed in an open space area next to the administrative, outpatient, and acute-care hospital buildings. Both hospitals are now connected via a pedestrian bridge and underground utility tunnel. Langan provided geotechnical and earthquake/seismic consulting services for the project.

770 House / 7th and Jackson Resiliency Park

OVERVIEW
Langan was part of a design and construction team completing the investigation, demolition, remediation and design of a two-city block redevelopment in northwest Hoboken. Our team implemented the design of a cloud-based outlet control into the stormwater management system for this project, which is located in a coastal city faced with the challenges of global climate change and the impacts of frequent localized flooding, as well as catastrophic-scale flooding issues.

The project includes a large, mixed-use residential building with 424 residential units, approximately 26,000 SF of commercial space, and a parking deck with 415 parking spaces for shared use by residents and the general public. The project also includes three major public areas: a brand new public gymnasium, a public park with open green spaces and a children’s play area, and a public plaza designed for public programming and activities.

University of Connecticut – Innovation Partnership Building

OVERVIEW
The 115,000 SF Innovation Partnership Building is the first building within UConn's Technology Park campus, developed to connect leading industries with advanced research facilities and foster innovative solutions for real-world problems. We provided survey, geotechnical and civil engineering, and landscape architecture for this project. Our site design minimized impacts to the primarily wooded lot and reduced the views of parking along the roadway through grading and landscape design. Additionally, our stormwater management design implemented a low-impact development approach that seeks to protect and minimize disruption to the existing natural resources and environmentally sensitive areas. The project was submitted for LEED Silver certification.

Confidential Ivy League University

OVERVIEW
The university currently maintains their utility information within AutoCAD and paper drawings. This information is used to support a wide variety of projects, which includes numerous ongoing construction and maintenance activities. As such, the university is in need of a more accurate representation of their utility infrastructure across the campus. To assist the university in this effort, Langan drew upon our extensive experience in developing GIS-based utility infrastructure repositories and document management systems, which includes the migration of data sources into one standardized platform as well as our broad range of surveying experience using a multitude of technologies.

Highland Hospital

OVERVIEW
Highland Hospital/Alameda County Medical Center is a $668 million makeover of an aging public hospital. The project, owned by the County of Alameda, includes replacement facilities to be completed in three phases over seven years, making it the largest health care investment in the County’s history. Langan provided geotechnical engineering services during design and construction of Highland Hospital. We also provided a geologic hazards report for the project that included an evaluation of landslides, liquefaction, and seismic ground shaking hazards. Our firm has provided geotechnical engineering services for this project since 2007. In 2012, the project received the Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) Merit Award for “Projects in Progress.”
