Growing Team Tackles Complex Projects for Major Clients in Cigar City
The biggest project under construction on Tampa’s popular riverwalk is the Pendry Residences. The combination hotel/condo tower will reach over 400 feet high, but what won’t be obvious is the depth of its foundation. Extending 287 feet at its deepest—a geotechnical engineering record in Tampa—the tower required a unique solution due to the complex nature of the subsurface conditions.

Justin Seltzer, Associate Principal in charge of Langan’s Tampa office, is the lead geotechnical engineer on the Pendry Residences, owned by Two Roads Development. “We have been fortunate for the opportunity to work with our client and a great design and construction team on the Pendry,” said Seltzer. “We thrive on challenging projects, which is common in Tampa and St. Petersburg, where we are providing services for the Waldorf Astoria Residences on behalf of PMG.”
Langan’s downtown St. Petersburg office, led by Andrew Eiland, Associate, is engaged in the project, providing site/civil, environmental, and traffic services. Combined, Langan’s headcount in the area has topped 30 full-time employees, prompting the need for more office space in the iconic Rivergate Tower.
The firm had plenty to celebrate in May when clients, industry allies, and staff gathered for its Ten Years in Tampa Party at Armature Works. In addition to great food, drink, and networking, guests enjoyed fabulous views of the downtown skyline, which Langan is helping reshape with its “ground-and-down” knowledge and expertise.
