Langan ERGs Advance Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Around the Country
This month Black Professionals@Langan has held a variety of initiatives within and beyond the firm to commemorate Black History Month. From emails spotlighting African American leaders in the AEC industry to webinars for STEM-minded K-12 students, Langan is doing its part to promote and inspire AEC careers for underrepresented groups.
In the months ahead, all of Langan’s Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) will hold internal and external events to continue the firm’s ongoing effort to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion. In fact, Langan’s ERG program has become a blueprint in the AEC industry, where tremendous opportunities can be found for minority and women-owned businesses on exciting projects around the country.
“From a corporate culture standpoint, Langan ERGs have made a tremendous positive impact within our firm,” said Beverly Williams, Chief Human Resources Officer/Diversity Officer, Principal, Langan. “Furthermore, members of Langan ERGs are helping other firms start similar programs, which is fantastic for our industry and for strengthening our relationships with our clients and allies.”
Speaking of allies, Williams was part of the pioneering DPC Diversity & Inclusion Working Group, sponsored by the American Council of Engineering Companies, that published “Diversity & Inclusion: Keys to Success and Lessons Learned” (March 2020). The formalization of Langan’s ERGs are in part a result of the firm’s early commitment to recognize the importance of people from all “walks of life.”
