The Environmental Advocate: Successful Refinery Remediation Requires Special Expertise

2017 | VOLUME 6

SUCCESSFUL REFINERY REMEDIATION REQUIRES SPECIAL EXPERTISE

Refinery remediation requires more than the latest technology. A successful effort must leverage proactive regulatory programs centered around risk-based criteria – while still being focused on the needs of the client. Langan is finding ways to remove free-phase hydrocarbon, Light Non Aqueous Phase Liquids (LNAPL), at refineries where historic remediation systems have come up short. “Our technical team appreciates and respects remediation work within a refinery, and relishes the exceptional challenge of mitigating LNAPL in these facilities,” says Andrew Kerr, an Associate in Langan’s Oil & Gas Practice.
