Langan Wins Empire Award at ACEC New York Engineering Excellence Gala

American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC New York) honored Langan with the 2025 Empire Award for its work on TSX Broadway. Announced annually at the Engineering Excellence Awards Gala, the Empire Award recognizes the highest-ranked project designed and built in New York State.

Langan’s TSX Broadway submission was top-ranked among 110 award-winning projects, including 23 projects recognized with Diamond Awards. A distinguished panel of judges reviewed all submissions, scoring each project on its complexity, innovation, and value to society.

Located in the heart of Times Square, TSX Broadway is one of New York City’s most complex projects to date. The project included the demolition of a 470-foot-tall hotel, construction of a 46-story mixed-use tower, and lifting of the landmarked Palace Theatre 30 feet in the air to make room for retail opportunities and an outdoor stage. Langan played an integral role in the historic project, engineering ways to safely raise the theater, preserve the space, and excavate beneath it without disturbing the structure. The firm’s unique foundation-construction approach enabled the simultaneous excavation of rock while supporting and demolishing higher levels of the building—a complex feat requiring precision and innovation.

ACEC New York hosted its 58th annual Engineering Excellence Awards Gala at the Midtown Hilton in New York City on Saturday, April 5.
