Langan Plays Role in Moving Projects that Protect the Public

Before the USNS Comfort could dock at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal, a variety of engineering and environmental measures and permits needed to be secured at never-before-seen speed and accuracy. A team of Langan experts worked 24/7 well before the hospital ship pulled into New York Harbor, where it can provide a critical “relief valve” against the pressure mounting in the healthcare system in what is now the epicenter of America’s coronavirus outbreak.

“More than a week ago we quickly jumped into action, working with the US Army Corps of Engineers, the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, the New York Economic Development Council, and our construction partner Skanska to make sure that the Comfort, with its 1,000 beds and military medical staff, could dock and be ready to operate,” said Jeff Stoicescu, Senior Associate, Langan. “Our team, which includes environmental experts, as well as Langan volunteers cross-trained for field work, is proud to be part of this extraordinary effort.”
