OVERVIEW
Located on 14.65 acres, the historic cannery building that formerly housed Fry’s Electronics is being redeveloped into a mixed-use building with retail and research and development space, with 3.25 acres of the site dedicated to affordable housing. The project also includes the partial demolition of the building to make room for 74 townhomes and the construction of a two-story parking garage and a small park. Additionally, the overhead power line must be replaced with an underground line to comply with the City of Palo Alto Utilities Rule 20. Langan conducted geotechnical services for the seismic retrofit of the building and new parking garage. We are providing consultation and plan review, laboratory testing, construction observation, special inspection letters, and project management services for the seismic retrofit, parking structure, and work related to Rule 20.
