Central Park Delacorte Theater
OVERVIEW
Langan supported the renovation of the 63-year-old Delacorte Theater in Central Park, home of Shakespeare in the Park. The 1,800-seat venue required upgrades to walkways, restrooms, lighting, safety barriers, and drainage. The redesigned façade features reclaimed redwood from decommissioned water tanks attached to metal brackets around the original structure. We provided site/civil services from design through construction, including layout, grading, stormwater management, utility connections, and permitting. We also performed construction inspections and administration. Our geotechnical team conducted subsurface exploration and provided recommendations for foundation reuse and unforeseen site conditions. Our landscape architecture team, including a certified arborist, prepared a tree inventory, protection plan, and coordinated with agencies on landscape restoration surrounding the theater.
