Decommissioned Vernon C. Bain Correctional Center

Langan assessed the feasibility of converting a dormant Bronx waterfront site into a small cargo terminal as part of NYC’s “Blue Highway” initiative. Formerly home to the Vernon C. Bain correctional vessel, the site is now being considered for waterborne freight use. We completed a site survey, evaluated delivery logistics and barge reuse, developed concepts for circulation and equipment, and proposed circulation routes and connections to public streets.
