Verizon – Ground Zero Groundwater Discharge Permits & Groundwater Testing

Langan provided technical assistance to Verizon's Environmental Affairs group in addressing the discharge of potentially contaminated groundwater from a telecommunications trench located at Ground Zero, the former World Trade Center Complex in Lower Manhattan. We helped complete a NYCDEP Bureau of Wastewater Pollution Control and Wastewater Quality Control Application for the unpermitted discharge to the city sewer system, and performed monthly groundwater sampling for laboratory analysis. NYCDEP determiend the results to be favorable and Verizon requested and received termination of the discharge permit.
