Howard University – Building Assessment

OVERVIEW
Langan provided site/civil and environmental assessment services for approximately 97 buildings within four campuses for Howard University. The purpose of the assessment was to provide supporting documentation for the development of a database to track and prioritize the university’s capital improvement projects. Langan’s site/civil assessment included the scaled measurement of surrounding topography and access routes for compliance with the American Disabilities Act (ADA) to ensure sidewalks and entryways were available for wheelchair/handicap access. Stormwater assessments included documenting areas of water ponding, the condition of existing stormwater inlets, and the presence of building roof drainage. In addition, Langan performed an environmental assessment for the identification of potential lead based paint, asbestos containing materials (ACM) and hazardous materials.
