Nordic Spa

OVERVIEW
This project is transforming a 6.3-acre former brownstone quarry into a hydrotherapy spa that follows practices pioneered in Canada, which include leading participants through periods of hot, cold, and rest. The spa will feature a 20,000 SF bathhouse, a 6,000 SF bistro, a waterfall, a steam room, cold-plunge pools, saunas, fire pits, saltwater relaxation pools, and heated pathways throughout. Langan prepared a topographic survey of the site using a mix of conventional survey and aerial mapping methods and deployed a UAS to obtain lidar data and aerial images. We also addressed site layout, drainage, utilities, and erosion controls, provided a stormwater management report, and presented at public hearing meetings regarding inland wetlands, planning, and zoning. As part of the local permitting process, we prepared a traffic statement that discussed the development’s impact on the surrounding roadway network.
