Seton Hall University – University Center Phase I and II
OVERVIEW
Seton Hall University’s University Center is located in the center of its main campus in South Orange. The 190,000 SF facility replaced a 50-year-old university center and the Duffy Hall building, which houses cafeteria and dining areas, classrooms, a bookstore, administrative offices, and a theatre. Phase I included a 5,000 SF addition to the northern façade, interior renovations, a stormwater detention basin, and relocation of existing utilities to accommodate the expansion and new pedestrian walkways. Phase II added 1,500 SF to the west and east sides of the building. Improvements on the west side featured an outdoor plaza, amphitheater, and staircases, while the east side included an entry vestibule, plaza, terraced meditation garden, grotto, and related pedestrian pathways. This phase also involved reconstructing the Duffy Hall parking lot with a bus stop and shelter on Seton Drive, stormwater detention basins, utility relocations, and new utility services.
