OVERVIEW
Langan provided site/civil engineering services for a 30-story, 354,000-SF apartment building in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood. Project challenges included coordination with the city for the first "protected intersection" in Seattle, designed to make travel more predictable and smoother for vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, and personal mobility devices. The project features significant utilities and utility vaults in the alley, which required greater coordination with providers and the contractor. Our team quickly adjusted to architectural changes made during construction to the bioretention planters. Sustainable features for the LEED Gold project include a 1,400 SF of green roof and specialized landscaped areas to accommodate Thomas Street, a designated Neighborhood Greenway.
