UC Santa Cruz, Crown College – Major Maintenance & Accessibility

OVERVIEW
Located on a hilltop and surrounded by a redwood forest, the college includes eight residence hall buildings and eight apartment buildings. Per an agreement with the Division of the State Architect (DSA), UCSC needed to address site and interior access compliance for the eight facilities and one apartment building. Top priorities are receiving approvals from DSA and the Designated Campus Fire Marshall. Langan’s scope includes ADA/pedestrian site connectivity upgrades. Langan and the design team created more inviting open spaces that allowed for greater pedestrian flow through the site, decreased stormwater run-off, sized and upgraded utility lines, and relocated utility corridors to better fit the site. The Crown College project was designed to work towards the University’s net zero goals.
